One

They say
That everything is one
That we are all one
That we are one with God
That we are one with the universe
That there is beauty in oneness
That enlightenment comes from oneness
That peace is born when we realize this one fact

I say
That everything is a lot of things
That we are individuals
That there may be a God
That we still have not understood the universe
That beauty arises from asymmetry
That enlightenment is confused with being high
That peace is possible even by accepting all these facts

Away

Away
Should I
Go away
In search of
Something, many a thing
Taking an easy path perhaps
Easy in a way
Difficult in another

Away
From the people I love
Who may not be perfect
Mine nonetheless
From a culture
With many a flaw
My culture nonetheless
From my land
Which I may not hold dearest
My land nonetheless

Away
For what
Status? Social standing?
Money? Living standards?
To fulfill expectations?
For experiences?

Away
Or not go away
My call to take
One I must take
Before the sand runs out
I hope I take one
Which I won't regret.

The squishy ball

It came from somewhere
A dent on it somewhere
At first, looked a bit fishy
Its soft and squishy

A strong push, zoom it goes crazily
Face adorned with a smiley
Yellow in color
But rolls on with valor

A push, a wind, a slope
Is all it needs for a hope
To fuel it to its destination
The hero of this compilation.

Mind set as if always sunny
Without minding if others find it funny
It marches on forward
Without seeking any reward

This is the end
Of what I have penned
Words designed to chime
In this attempt to write a rhyme.

Ego

Ego
Trait of individuality
Fuels competitiveness
Makes one
Destroys one
Vortex, strong and powerful
Filled with discontent

A chance to escape
For the lucky ones
A ladder of joy
Albeit a broken ladder
Requires Fate's helping hand

A chance to escape
For the determined ones
A ladder of will
Albeit a hard one to climb
Made slippery by apparent pangs of failure

A chance to escape
Alas not a permanent escape
Hides behind one's shadow
Waiting to pounce back

Ego
An unquenchable fire
Filled with discontent.

Nostalgia

What a strange thing it is
Nostalgia

Reminds one of times
Both good and bad
Realities of the past
Uncertainties of the future
Brings joy and sorrow
Intertwines memories, true and false
Makes one glee and glum
Tears of both kinds.

Warm times in the past,
Lost forever to our yesterdays
Or maybe a chance
A hope of reliving them in the future
Nonetheless ensures one of
Warm times in the past,
Tucked away safely in memories
Never to be lost
Always within reach
A source of strength and happiness.

What a strange thing it is
Nostalgia.
